Fair Use Policy
1. No meter, no surprise charge
Once a page is in PRAMAAN, working with it carries no usage meter: reading and re-reading it yourself, searching, opening, citing, asking questions, Deep Read, the Matter Brief, notes, and annotations are all included in the page price. There is no token counter, no AI-credit balance, and no per-feature charge.
One action is priced rather than metered, and it is never automatic: a Re-read, where somebody at your firm selects a document already in the matter and asks PRAMAAN to read it again. It is charged per page on the rate card, alongside intake, create and a revision. Nothing is re-read in the background, no re-read follows from searching, opening, citing or reading a document yourself, and none follows from new material arriving in the matter.
Crossing a fair-use ceiling never results in a charge. There is no overage bill for AI usage, ever.
2. Soft ceilings
Like every AI product, PRAMAAN applies soft ceilings to extreme usage. If an account reaches one, AI features slow down until the ceiling resets. Nothing is billed, and nothing is lost.
Ceilings are set generously, well beyond ordinary legal work, and scale with the plan. We may adjust them as we learn how firms use the service. A lawyer reading and asking questions all day will not reach them.
3. What fair use excludes
Fair use means use by legal professionals in the course of real legal work. It does not cover:
- Automated, scripted, or programmatic access to AI features.
- Bulk extraction, scraping, or exporting content outside ordinary matter work.
- Sharing one seat or login among multiple people.
- Reselling, relaying, or providing PRAMAAN access to third parties.
- Use unrelated to legal work, including running non-legal workloads through AI features.
4. Extraordinary needs
Some matters are genuinely enormous. If your firm's needs exceed what fair use comfortably covers, talk to us. Enterprise arrangements carry larger fair-use envelopes, scoped to the engagement.
5. Enforcement
Where usage falls outside fair use, PRAMAAN may throttle or suspend AI features, and where necessary suspend access, consistent with the suspension provisions of the Terms of Use. We will generally reach out before acting, unless the usage poses a risk to the platform or other customers.
